On 28 June 2024, WWF Greece, a partner of the NATALIE project and leader of case study 1, organised a participatory workshop. This workshop initiated the implemenation of the Transformation Lab for this case study, which aims to co-create nature-based solutions for climate change adaptation by actively involving local stakeholders in the Lelantine Plain, on the island of Evia, Greece .
The main objective of this first workshop was to identify the climate risks specific to the region and determine the actions needed to address them. Through participatory exercises, external stakeholders worked together to assess the different aspects of climate challenges, with a focus on flood and fire risks. Furthermore, the workshop included keynote presentations on Nature-based Solutions.
The success of this workshop was made possible by the collaboration of several key partners, including WWF Greece, the University of Thessaly, the Region of Central Greece and the Municipality of Chalkis as well as the genuine interest of local stakeholders to address climate hazards sustainably.
